Job Seeker Visa

Six-month visa to search for a qualifying role on the ground.

Germany reference

Overview

The Germany Job Seeker Visa (§20 AufenthG) is a long-stay visa that allows qualified non-EU nationals — including Indians — to enter Germany for up to 6 months to search for skilled employment in person. Unlike the new Opportunity Card, the classic Job Seeker Visa does not require a points score: it requires a recognised qualification, proof of funds and a serious job-search plan. Once you secure a qualifying offer, you switch in-country to a Skilled Worker Visa or EU Blue Card without leaving Germany. 7 Wings Immigration in Hyderabad has guided hundreds of Indian professionals through the Job Seeker Visa — from ZAB recognition to a fully-prepared CV strategy on the ground in Germany.

Why choose the Job Seeker Visa?

6 months on the ground to attend interviews, network and meet employers face to face — a huge advantage over remote job hunting.

No job offer required before entering Germany.

In-country conversion to a Skilled Worker Visa or EU Blue Card the moment you sign a contract.

Stay in any city — Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuttgart — wherever your interviews are.

A serious signal to employers that you are ready to relocate immediately, often beating remote candidates to the offer.

Eligibility Requirements

University degree (Bachelor's, Master's or PhD) recognised in Germany via ANABIN or a ZAB Statement of Comparability — OR a recognised German vocational qualification.

Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience is strongly preferred, though not always mandatory.

Proof of funds for the entire stay — typically a blocked account of around €6,546 (€1,091 × 6 months, 2026 reference) or formal sponsorship.

Travel and expat health insurance valid in Germany for the full 6 months.

Accommodation proof for the initial weeks (hotel, Airbnb, friend's address).

Motivation letter and job-search plan showing how you will use the 6 months.

No specific German language level is mandatory, but A2–B1 dramatically improves your job-search outcomes.

Benefits of the Job Seeker Visa

Face-to-face interviews dramatically improve offer rates compared to remote applications.

Live in Germany legally for 6 months while networking and exploring cities.

Direct switch to a long-term work visa once you have an offer — no need to leave.

Builds local references (recruiters, mentors, professional groups) that pay off long after the visa expires.

Lower risk than relocating after signing — you assess salary, city and lifestyle before committing.
